Through dedicated teamwork, we create bold theatrical art that provokes, inspires, and encourages personal and social transformation.

DAH TEATAR was founded and based in Belgrade since 1991. An independent, professional theater troupe and artistic
collective that uses contemporary theater techniques to create engaged art with the intention of influencing the positive development of society, both globally and locally. The work of DAH Teatar is based on devising theater methodology, and the performances
and projects are the result of a long-term process. Starting from a theme, working at the intersection of theater, dance, and visual arts, DAH Teatar creates
performances with a vision of creating a non-violent and tolerant society.

In 34 years of continuous work, DAH Teatar has successfully realized:

• 45 theatrical performances

• 22 successfully implemented European projects, 20 international collaborations

• 15 organized festivals

• More than 2500 performances in Serbia and around the world, participating in renowned festivals, universities, conferences, and collaborating with artists from various cultural backgrounds

The work of DAH Teatar is oriented towards a constant exchange of knowledge, experience, and ideas among artists and participants from different theatrical and national traditions. As a Center for Theater Research, it creates conditions for the improvement of directors,
actors, and other artists in all theatrical fields. The Center pays attention to the education of young people in the direction of contemporary theatrical expression and introduces them to other branches of art.

MISSION

We can counter destruction and violence in the modern world by creating meaning.

“DAH Teatar is one of the most successful and innovative theater troupes in contemporary history. What makes DAH so exceptional? Their passion and innovation goes far beyond pure performance.”

Dennis Barnett, Professor of Drama and Theater, Coe College, USA (DAH Theatre: A Sourcebook)

“I watched their plays that celebrate life. I THINK about courage, dignity, perseverance, artistic finesse, and the dark matter that crosses the boundaries of art.(…) They were and still are butterflies. As a mystery, I watch them
dreaming, how, having fluttered through the window, they fly straight into History.”

Eugenio Barba, director of ODIN Teatra (DAH Theatre: A Sourcebook)

“By observing the work and development process of the theater, it becomes clear that Dah Teatar is as dedicated to personal transformation as it is to changes in the community. Social change is possible when we can change ourselves.”

David J. Diamond, La MaMa Umbria (DAH Theatre: A Sourcebook)
