ACTIVISM
“DAH Teatar’s art is critical, activist, professional, and feminist. It raises questions about power positions. It is against national domination, socially engaged, and examines power relations within the public-private sphere at the level of
family, society, and state.” – Staša Zajović, co-founder of Women in Black, Serbia.
Human rights, tolerance, non-discrimination, gender equality
DAH Teatar has maintained a continuous thread of resistance from 1991 to the present day and has collaborated with feminist-activist groups (Women in Action, ACT Women) from its beginning, with Women in Black in Serbia as one of its main collaborators. The aim of this collaboration is resistance to
war and violence, as well as the culture of denial on the one hand, and the empowerment of women and the building of lasting peace on the other.
Collaboration with feminist-activist organizations
“Unlike most indifferent artists during wartime and their escapism, these artists chose to share the same values with us and engage in our numerous activities.” – Staša Zajović, co-founder of Women in Black, Serbia.
Street actions and protests – Theater performances and touring the region with performances – Conferences and meetings – Workshops and discussions with women – Creating a network of women from different women’s organizations
Each of these actions aimed to make women more visible, their voices more audible, helping to finally break the denial of crimes committed in our name and thereby begin the healing process, strengthening the presence of women in various
positions in our society.
