IN/VISIBLE CITY

A performance in a public transport bus and a long-term project of DAH Theater. Starting from the fact that our cities, in their distant past, as well as today, are multi-ethnic cities, with a large number of inhabitants of different origins and cultures and that this awareness has faded due to the onslaught of crises and wars that created multi-ethnic tensions, and not understanding, we have created a project that promotes different ethnic cultures that coexist today. [2005 - ]

The main goal of the "Un/Visible City" project is to make the multiethnic structure of cities and the richness of different cultures in Serbia and beyond more visible. To rediscover everything that has been lost or become invisible, and was created by the joint efforts
of this society, which is multinational, and part of our culture for centuries. "Un/visible city" looks back at the positive aspects of cultural and national diversity, the history of our cities created by many nations and into which they weave their culture, customs and creativity.

Through the performances in city transport buses, which "tell" the multiethnic history of cities, we want to contribute to the normalization of relations between different ethnic communities living in Serbia, but also beyond. To contribute to the development of a civil society based on tolerance. The positive reactions of the audience and the public have confirmed how much such an action was needed by the citizens of Serbia and other countries in which we performed.

On the 10-kilometer route between Mali Bajmok and Palić, passengers, accompanied by the sounds of accordion, violin, rap and drums, witnessed a theatrical spectacle that was not disturbed by the cramped space or the swaying of the bus on the bend. The performance was conceived as a journey through the history of Subotica, and many citizens were delighted with what they heard and learned. (BLIC Vojvodina – Biljana Vučković, 2008)

MISSION

The relevance of this project is confirmed over the years because cultural and ethnic intolerance (unfortunately) continues to change its forms - from discrimination against minorities to xenophobia that is reappearing in Europe and discrimination and intolerance towards migrants from other cultures. That is why our mission remains – raising awareness of the right to coexistence, calling for tolerance and acceptance of diversity.
