Festival and conference on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of DAH Theatre

DAH Theater is the only professional theater troupe in our country that has been around for 20 years. Due to the need to expand his activities and act both nationally and internationally, he founded the Center for Theater Research, which during the two decades of its existence has realized a large number of projects, performances, guest appearances, festivals, and workshops. DAH Theater tours around the world, and also presents the most important artists and theorists in the field of performing arts. Due to the political circumstances in our country, DAH Theater was not supported by official institutions until 2000, and with the changes in 2000, DAH Theater's activities were supported by the City Secretariat for Culture of the City of Belgrade and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia, which was and still is an additional stimulus to our work.

In our culture, where the biggest problem is continuity and duration, we think it is extremely important to show that a certain cultural concept, i.e. artistic organization can last and inspire new generations with their work.

"Transferring the flame" has the topics of imparting knowledge in the field of theater art, the meeting of generations, the importance of duration and continuity in the culture of a country, as well as how knowledge in this art, which exists only at the moment when it is performed, can be recorded, passed on to others and preserved for the future.

FLAME TRANSMISSION

Invited guest artists represent the most important artists from the generation of great theater masters of our time: Eugenio Barba and Odin Teatret (Denmark), Peter Schumann, and Bread & Puppet Theater (USA), Jill Greenghalgh (Wales), Rena Mirecka (Poland), Gennady Bogdanov (Russia). These are the artists and troupes who marked the 20th century with their artistic work and whose activities are still ongoing in the 21st century. We had the opportunity to see some of them at BITEF, which represents a significant connection between this festival, which has been going on for several decades, and the activities of the DAH Theatre.

The second generation of invited artists is the generation to which DAH Theater belongs in terms of work and activity. These are troupes and artists who, through their actions, continue to follow the theater "masters" and represent a bridge between them and the generations to come. They also represent a significant phenomenon on today's world theater scene and with their innovative work open up new possibilities in this artistic field: Theaterlabor (Germany), Teatret OM (Denmark), Secos y Mojados (Violeta Luna/Roberto Varea, Mexico/Argentina), Blue Theater (Serbia), Easter Theater (Serbia), Voix Polyphoniques (France), Tricklock Theater (USA), 7 Stages Theater (USA).

The third generation is represented by artists and troupes that directly or indirectly represent the generation that continues ours, and which is already present on the world theater scene, a generation open to experiment and theatrical excess: ArtSpot Productions (USA), DNA Works (USA), Prodigal Theater (UK), Fragment Theater (Switzerland), Ensemble Mirage (Serbia).

In addition to the presentation of performances by the above-mentioned artists and troupes, another important segment of this festival is the supporting program of the festival:

Conversations - a conversation between artists who belong to the generation of theater "masters" and our leading artists and theorists.

Reflections - round tables and meetings between our and foreign artists with a focus on imparting knowledge in the theater.

Presentations - presentation of theater projects dealing with theater and social phenomena: theater and activism, theater and peace building, theater and spiritual disciplines, theater and social changes, etc. In the form of presentations, films, book promotions, the effectiveness of theater in other areas will be discussed.

The third segment of this meeting will be workshops led by two famous artists, Gennady Bogdanov, who is a direct successor to the tradition of Meyerholjd, and Rena Mirecka, who is a direct successor to the tradition of Grotovski.
