TWO GRANDMOTHERS, FOUR CATS, AND A SCOOTER

The authors of the play, Sanja Krsmanović Tasić and Maja Mitić, long-time actresses of DAH Theater, through a witty and warm manner, through the language of theater and art, send children and their parents a message about the beauty of relationships with animals and the importance of growing up with pets, about developing responsibility and caring for others, about the ability to love, grieve, and rejoice. [2009]

What if the drawn characters came to life and became real? If through mutual relationship and conversation, argument and song, laughter and sometimes tears, they would talk about important questions such as: What is happiness? And what about friendship? If they were to touch on ecology, the truth about witches. If they would walk around ancient Egypt, sail the sea. If they would realize what responsibility is, care for others, acceptance and openness to others and others. The lonely characters eventually realize that it is more meaningful to live in the company of friends and the occasional cat.

"When I was little, my mom found a thousand and one reasons not to let me have a pet. Secretly, I made a space for my pet in a matchbox, I even made a bed for it! Since I couldn't have a dog or a cat, I found an ant - which I kept in that tiny box. But it didn't manage to survive for long in those conditions and it died. I was desperate. Over time, the grieving about the ant disappeared That, that box of matches, my secret, my persistence to have someone I care about, remained." – Maja Vujovic

"It is important that we have close contact with animals throughout our lives. Our care and relationship with them ennobles us, makes us better and happier. This play was created on the basis of conversations between Maja and me, on many trips and visits to the DAH Theater, when we missed our children, our loves, and inevitably - our pets. It was also created based on a great desire to address the youngest audience. I look forward to every future performance and children's smiles!" – Sanja Krsmanović Tasić
