CIRQUE – (fr.) circus: in Roman times an arena for chariot races and gladiatorial games, in modern times an entertainment that usually takes place in a tent with animals and various performers
MACABRE – (fr. danse macabre) dead man's dance, dead man's dance
Using the form of a dark circus, this play deals with the theme of violence. The characters that make up the "circus points" are artists/visionaries who have marked our time and who dance a dark tango with their persecutors. Besides them, there are also anonymous soldiers who, with the sound of prayers in different languages, march across our planet, without stopping, through infinite time.
They are joined by characters from the Balkan circus in the form of desperate dancers who cannot stop dancing their dance of passion and blood. Will they make it to the new age? And have we, as a society and individuals, entered a new age that we wonder if it is really new, or have we remained in the museum of time where politicians in their gray, shiny suits replace visionaries? And do we also put on gray, shiny suits or walk through the darkness through which "the stars are best seen"?
