20.00 Round table - VOICES OF DIFFERENCE: WOMEN, SCENE, RESISTANCE
December 2: 8:00 p.m., Small Stage of the National Theater in Nis - Performance WOMEN'S ROOM, Center for Girls from Nis
The joint project investigates and thematizes the problems of women's rights and freedoms through two performances and a round table and opens a space for reflection, expression and sharing of women's experiences and struggles.
Starting from the idea that diversity is a form of resilience and strength, the project affirms female voices coming from different positions, identities and creative practices. Performing arts are used as a tool for collective reflection on women's rights, gender equality, violence, physicality, identity and solidarity. Through the meeting of the audience, artists and activists, the project builds a space for feminist exchange and shared insight.
A performance Heritage, DAH Teatra, on Wednesday, November 26 at 19 p.m. in the Concert and Exhibition Space of the Faculty of Arts in Niš, talks about the marginalization of women in the chain of inheritance, the renunciation of inheritance under the influence of tradition, family and what consequences it leaves for women. It deconstructs the inner conflict of a woman torn between acquiescence and resistance. It examines the myth of female helplessness and the mechanisms of patriarchy embedded in social and personal narratives.
The concept and direction is by Ivana Milenović Popović. DAH Theater actresses Ivana Milenović Popović and Milica Petrović play in the play, and they are joined by Dragana Jovanović, a longtime associate of the Center for Girls, actress of the National Theater in Niš. The original music was composed by Donka Torov.
After the performance at 20 p.m., a joint discussion will be held - a round table with the topic Voices of difference: Women, the scene, resistance as a bridge between artistic expression and social reality, where authors, participants, activists will discuss the rights and position of women in today's society together with the audience.
On Tuesday, December 2 at 20 p.m. on the Small Stage of the National Theater in Nis, the performance "Women's Room", Center for Girls from Niš, talks about the women in the Crveni Krst camp in Nis during World War II, their escape, their solidarity and courage, and the values they carried.
It brings a strong, emotional story about the brave camp inmates Nada Tomić, Jelisaveta Aneta Andrejević and Milka Protić, who participated in the preparations for the great escape from the camp on December 2, 1942, but also about the other women in that room. Placed in the space of a prison room, the play illuminates not only a historically significant moment of resistance to the Nazi occupation, but also the intimate stories of women who, despite fear, kept their faith, strength and solidarity. Through their personal confessions and mutual relationships, the audience gets an insight into the female perspective of struggle, courage and hope in the most difficult conditions.
The performance is a tribute to female perseverance and the fight for freedom. On the 80th anniversary of AFŽ's existence, the play gave voice to women who were among the first to join the anti-fascist struggle in order to preserve their existence from oblivion. The concept and direction is by Dragana Jovanović, and the actors are Milica Nikolić, Hristina Tonić, Milena Stefanović, Sara Plazinić Nikolić, Marija Virijević, Tatjana Nikolić and Marta Stanojević.
