A performance for open spaces in which the angels of Dah Teatar come to a place in the city that needs cleansing from history and perform their cleansing “ritual.” As the sun sets, four figures appear carrying the tools of a modern ritual: brooms, newspapers, a bucket, and a pillow. Somewhere a record player is playing. The music calls. It’s time to return. [1998]

This outdoor performance considers the return of the angels of Dah Teatar who appear in a specific place in the city that needs cleansing of its history. Arriving in the form of warriors and vagabonds, the angels learn the city’s biography, measure it
, and mark it for cleansing. When the cleansing is complete, the angels dance and prepare to leave.

“We played with the idea of cleansing from history because we don’t think we can move forward until we become aware of the layers of history that have happened here, which are very often turbulent, bloody, and difficult. In the play, we cleansed ourselves from history, and we also cleansed history itself. In another sense, it can mean that we were playing the process of healing.” – Dijana Milošević, director
