Based on the work of Momčilo Nastasijević, a representative of “magical realism” in Serbian literature. [1992]
“The Gifts of Our Ancestors performance, inspired by the “magical world in the work of Momčilo Nastasijević”, virtuously synthesizes “contemporary theatrical expression with the roots of our cultural uniqueness” and successfully continues further. By fulfilling the “real” environment with movement, sound, color, darkness and light, determining the dedicated place of the theater where each object is a valuable factor of inalienable reality, realizing the environment that is Theater, the center of Nastasijević’s non-Reality easily dissolves, opening the abysses of the Dark Vilayet.” – Zoran R. Popović (Književna reč, 25.9.1992)
“In the DAH Theater performance, therefore, the aim is to achieve an encounter with the magic of Nastasijević’s overflowing mysticism and contemporary theatrical expression based on mastering various acting techniques. The Gifts of Our Ancestors performance does not have a solid textual basis, it is based on a kind of libretto in which the viewer can recognize the characteristics of certain Nastasijević’s prose heroes or the relationships that exist between them. And in such a conceived theater that insists on distinguishing theatrical conventions, their dedication to work is devoid of the usual acting formulas.” – Radomir Putnik (Politika, 1.2.1993)
