PREVIOUSLY BLUE
A poetic summit on the mysteries of disaster, resilience, and beauty. A co-production of DAH Theatre, 7 Stages Theatre from Atlanta, and the Café Antarsia ensemble from Chicago. Observing our poisoned planet, two theater groups and one musical group from the United States of America and Serbia met in Belgrade in January 2014 with the desire to explore the mysteries of resilience and beauty within disasters. The idea that guided them was the good deeds that people did in their countries, often in very difficult conditions, after or during disasters. [2015]
The sky has turned black. The ground is poisoned. Clean water is smuggled and ransomed. Survivors gather to examine good and evil, the madness of love, and the future of the soul… [from the play]
The goal of the artists is to inspire the audience and our communities with this play and to emphasize the possibility of choosing to do good and encouraging humanity.
After nearly two years during which the artists met in Serbia and America, “Previously Blue/Nekada plavo” was created – a play that is just one of the fruits of the collaboration between DAH Theatre, 7 Stages Theatre from Atlanta, and the Café Antarsia
ensemble from Chicago. DAH Theatre and 7 Stages have been collaborating for two decades, and all joint projects tour around the world and represent a true example of successful cultural diplomacy. The play “Previously Blue/Nekada plavo” represents a poetic
summit on the mysteries of disaster, resilience, and beauty.
The premiere was held 21. and August 22, 2015, in the DAH Theatre space (Marulićeva 8). After the premiere performance in Belgrade, the play was performed in Atlanta (USA) at the 7 Stages Theatre at the end of August, then in Cedar Rapids (USA) at Coe College in early September, and in Chicago (USA) at Links Hall in mid-September of the same year.
