From July 25 to August 1, 2023, DAH Theater participated in the international Sommerwerft festival in Frankfurt, produced by PROTAGON, an organization of AntagonAKTion Theatre.

Created for the open space along the Main River, the Festival is dedicated to promoting performing arts to a wider audience in public places.

We led a two-day workshop CROSSINGS, 29. on July 30 at the Antagon Theater, which focused on tolerance, collaboration, trust, and equality in theater techniques. With about 20 participants, we seek answers to the question: How can theater transform disagreement into dialogue, rejection into collaboration, fear of social change into a creative act?

We performed the play TERRA twice, on July 27th and 28th, and the lecture 25 GLASSES OF WINE twice as well, 30. on July 31. The TERRA performance connects gardening, earth (Latin: TERRA) with stories of migrations and immigrants. 25 GLASSES OF WINE is a lecture-performance in which the director uses autobiographical texts to talk about the work of the theater group and the challenges in the historical political context of “a country that no longer exists.” After both performances, we stayed to talk to a very attentive audience, heard their impressions of the performances, and answered their questions.

On the periphery of the festival, we also had an inspiring meeting with members of Antagon TheaterAKTion and Protagon who organized the Festival, sharing their experiences and ideas about the role of contemporary performing arts in society today.

The project was enabled by the Cultures Moves Europe program funded by the European Union and implemented by the Goethe-Institut.
