NETWORKING MEMORIES

The purpose of the project is to create a new and sustainable network between 8 civil society organizations from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, Kosovo, and Serbia (Dah Teatar), which aims to involve citizens in the conception and realization of joint activities. The project
NETWORKING MEMORIES aims to explore memories of the time of Yugoslavia among people of the younger generation who have never actually lived in it – therefore, these memories and feelings, although strong, are borrowed (from
parents, family, school, media). As a result of this specific work, a kind of MUSEUM OF MEMORIES and a theater performance will be created from the artifacts and stories of the participants. The project was realized in Pristina, Sarajevo, Belgrade, Rome
and Trentino. [2011-2012]

BORROWED MEMORIES

Performance – premiere June 30, 2012, at DAH Teatar

A performance inspired by memories of Yugoslavia, memories of young people who did not actually live in it.

Part One: YU TUBE

Starring: Predrag Kotur, Sonja Mladenov, Slobodan Roksandić, Milica Stefanović

Text and direction: Aleksandra Urošević

Collaborator on the text: Jeton Neziraj

Scenography: Ivana Lovre

From every relationship that has a history, closeness is inevitably born. Even conflict creates closeness. With this performance, we ask ourselves where that closeness goes after parting. We take the past as the cause and the present as the consequences. We observe the past
from the present perspective and, for who knows what time, we conclude – “maybe we are done with the past, but the past is not done with us” [from the film Magnolia, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson.] In a time when there is a debate about what
belongs to whom, we conclude that at least memories and the right to nostalgia cannot be taken away from us, it belongs to everyone.

Part Two: FAREWELL

Dramaturgy and choreodirection: Sanja Krsmanović Tasić

Texts by actors and research participants: Muhamed Filipović, Georgi Stardelov, the group RITAM NEREDA, Karl Marx, Marko Raguž, Jeton Neziraj and Sanja Krsmanović Tasić

Four actors, through the characters of Mother Serbia, the Resurrected Land that had a sea, the One who Believes, and the Sacrificed Son, go through the FAREWELL ritual. What is it that needs to be seen off, so that the new and different, and perhaps – better, can be welcomed?
How to get out of the vicious circle of our cursed heritage? Have we seen off enough sons and daughters to the “battle for their people”, or to some distant country where a better life is possible? It is time to prepare for joyful welcomes, enough
of seeing off.

We thank Boris Čakširan, Ivona Tomić, Iva Musović.
