THIS BABYLONIAN CONFUSION

This site-specific performance was created based on the montage of created acting materials and songs by B. Brecht. This performance arose from the feeling of necessity of its creators to define themselves in relation to the duty of artists in “dark times.”
Four actors, using the characters of angels, speak out against war, nationalism, and destruction. [1992]

“In dark times, will there be

singing in dark times?

Yes, there will be singing about dark times.”

B. Brecht

“In a strictly controlled, directed, and energetically charged ritualistic game, Brecht spoke as our most vivid and contemporary contemporary – against the slaughter and against totalitarianism… The possible hermeticism of signs is suppressed by overwhelmingly powerful, precisely channeled, pure, and universally accessible emotions.” – Dubravka Knežević (PACIFIK, August 1992)

“…this performance initiated a stage play that transcends itself and which, in poetry – not at all coincidentally, that of the socially and politically engaged Bertolt Brecht – finds coverage for its fierce engagement in the time of escalating war hysteria on the territory of the former Yugoslavia.” – Aleksandar Milosavljević (Dance on the Remains of the World, Vreme, 4.12.1995)

“The DAH TEATAR performance reveals the truth of our bad everyday life, that is, “what is the time in which talking about trees is almost a crime”.” Borba (Elegance of street education, 23.7.1992)

“The performance “Babylonian Confusion” – a drama of rebellion – against the general silence, hatred, and exposure to the nation was particularly noted.” – S. Dj. (Rebellion against evil, Novosti, 07.08.1992)
