CHILDREN’S RIGHTS-RIGHTS4KIDS

The aim of the project is to raise awareness about the rights of children/youth; to bring young people from vulnerable groups closer to the theater by enabling them to participate in the development of theater performances, not only as an audience, but also as participants. Within the
project, Dah Teatar is creating a play for young people and adults “For Your Own Good”. [2018 -2020]

The Rights 4 kids on line festival will be held on Friday, November 20, on the occasion of World Children’s Rights Day.

The festival will be the final point of the project. Given the current health situation, it was decided to do it on-line on Friday morning, November 20. Project partners will be present and will talk about their activities and the process of creating the performances, with inserts from the performances.

PROJECT

The Convention on the Rights of the Child has established guidelines to explain what constitutes a violation of children’s rights, an issue that, unfortunately, is still relevant throughout the world. Some important laws have been approved, but some remain too general and many are still not respected.

The right to education, the principle of non-discrimination, according to which all children should have the same rights without distinction of race, gender, language and religion, the fight against the exploitation of children and the rights of children with disabilities, are still a problem in our modern Western society. Even if the members of the Convention apply to all children, there are some specific groups of children from vulnerable target groups whose rights are still violated. The DAH Teatar’s play “For Your Own Good” is being realized
in 2020.

MAIN GOALS

  • Encourage children to think about their rights and share their experiences and stories.

  • Developing the ability of people working in the cultural and creative sector to use theater and culture to promote the social inclusion of children.

  • Encourage children living in difficult conditions to participate in the development of a theater performance not only as an audience but also as co-authors, thereby developing their self-esteem and creativity.
